This is the spot we are going to put our Tiki Bar/Tiki Hut. The deck it will sit on is going to about 16' x 20' in overall size. The bar itself will be approximately 12' x 12' with a tin roof to give it that "Island Feel." Here is another shot of the area where the bar will be. We put up a cheap arbor we picked up at Academy as sort of a placeholder. It has gone to the great goodbye now, it was raped and pillaged by a nasty storm. Here is a shot of the setting sun from where the Tiki Bar will be.  The bar will be facing the West and the setting sun.

The Tiki Bar is coming right along now. The rafters are in place.  To finish the roof I still need to attach the 1x4 board that run across the rafters and I will be ready to attach the roofing. I have the deck finished up the end of the surround deck.  I need to add stairs and railings so the surround deck can be accessed from either side. This is shot from the access deck.  You can see the metal roof panels laying on the deck. All the decks have been completed and now I can focus on the Tiki Bar itself.

Well the day has finally come!!  The roof is going on today, 02/18/06. Check out the Outdoor Temp. The chill factor had it down into the lower thirties.  The 25 mph gust and constant drizzling rain was just an added bonus.

A friend of mine that I work with, Chris in the completely shitty weather to help me get the roof on the Tiki Bar. Without him, the roof panels would still be sitting on the deck. He showed up to my house at 7am on a Saturday to boot. Chris crawled around on the roof supports, screwing in the 1x4s and roofing panels.  Like I said, the panels would still be sitting on the deck.  I put the materials on the roof and Chris installed them.

This is what the underside of the roof looks like after it is installed.  The 1x4's add support for the roof panels and a place to attach them. The 1x4's are screwed to the 2x4 rafters. I used .26 gauge GalvaLume panels. Another shot of the roof from the inside at night. With the pitch we are using, the rain shoots off the back of the roof.  The back and about 5 foot of the deck facing the house will be walled in.

I am making a canopy and attaching it to the front (highest point). It will be made of 2x4 framing and covered with Thatching and bamboo. I will be glad when I get all the crap wood and debris finally out of the yard. We just finished getting the crap from Rita picked up.
